About Vaginal Infections
The most common causes of vaginal irritation
Did you know that vaginal discharge can vary in consistency, colour and odour? It is completely natural for women of childbearing age to have some vaginal discharge. However, a change in your discharge could mean that something is wrong.
Vaginal infections occur when bacteria, fungi or viruses become imbalanced in and around the vaginal area. They may or may not be sexually transmitted.
The three most common vaginal infections affecting women in their reproductive age are: Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), Candidiasis (thrush) and Trichomoniasis (trich), all of which can cause discharge, odour, irritation or itching.
